Warehouse Operations Support Manager

As a Warehouse Operations Support Manager, you'll be right in the middle of our warehouse operations, making sure everything runs smoothly every day. You'll ensure we follow all safety, legal, and company guidelines while managing our hardworking team.

About your responsibilities...

Your tasks will include overseeing staff, handling site-specific needs related to facilities and stock, and making sure our Goods In and Out teams are on top of their game. Plus, you'll be leading, motivating, and developing the team with clear processes and great communication, creating a positive and productive atmosphere.

 

Safety and Compliance
A large part of your role will be to ensure all safety, legislative, and company standards are met, creating a safe working environment for everyone. You will lead by example in health and safety practices, and company policies, and inspire the team to do the same.

  • Support staff in following site risk assessments and safe work systems
  • Promptly address any identified risks.
  • Encourage daily checks and walkarounds of MHE and site equipment to keep everything running smoothly.
  • Maintain clean and pleasant staff welfare facilities.
  • Perform daily/shift checks for statutory inspections of equipment and racking to keep standards high.


Operational Management
Efficiently and cost-effectively deploy resources and equipment to keep operations running smoothly. Assist the Warehouse Manager in managing staff absences and holidays to ensure a well-balanced team. Help identify and escalate training needs to the Warehouse Manager to support staff development. Continuously seek more efficient working methods and help develop new processes.

 

Goods Management
You'll be integral to ensuring our warehouse operates efficiently and seamlessly. Your responsibilities will encompass a variety of key tasks aimed at maintaining high standards and smooth processes. You will:

  • Oversee the Goods In Transit and Storage areas to ensure everything is well-organised.
  • Keep the MHE maintenance programme running smoothly, including servicing, VOR, and daily checks.
  • Follow company procedures for handling accidents and incidents with care.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy warehouse at all times.
  • Ensure efficient management of all Site Goods In and Out activities.
  • Make sure the team and visiting drivers follow the Key Control process.
  • Implement and maintain any customer-specific product requirements with attention to detail.

 

About you!

We’re looking for someone who:

  • has clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • has strong interpersonal skills and is able to work well as part of a team.
  • is excellent at managing people.
  • has the ability to plan and think strategically whilst keeping a grip on day-to-day issues.
  • is highly organised.
  • is resourceful, inventive and self-confident.
  • maintains a positive attitude to continued learning and growth.


The successful candidate must:

  • have proven supervisory experience within a similar warehouse environment.
  • have at least 3 years of experience in a commercially challenging, results-driven, warehouse environment.
  • be IT literate (including Microsoft Office suite).
  • have working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems.

You get bonus points if you also have:

  • an IOSH Managing Safety qualification.
  • a level 1 NVQ in Warehousing, or higher education.
  • an understanding of Lean Management.
