Drivers & Training

Driving | Industry | Standards

Our drivers are generally the only face to face interaction we have with our customers on a daily basis.

A critical link to the relationship, Browns Distribution drivers are brand ambassadors who are recognised for their skill and value they bring to the whole operation.

Our training and welfare approach rather unique in the industry.

With a national driver shortage, the need for high quality loyal drivers has never been more prevalent. Browns Distribution aims to be a business that drivers seek to work for based on reputation and job satisfaction, which is why we have taken a fresh approach to recruitment, training and retention.

Read about our business ethos and values.

Often driver management is absorbed directly into the operations team and for routing and activity this is no different at Browns Distribution.

Welfare and discipline is however often overlooked by pressing matters such as fulfilling customer demand.

We have a dedicated senior leader to specifically focus on our drivers and their needs! His role is to cater for the welfare, discipline and training requirements of all Browns Distribution drivers providing a link between the operations team and the rest of the business. The approach has been a huge success and welcomed by new and existing members of the team.

"Being able to say that you enjoy coming to work is quite a rare thing these days, I am lucky enough to be in that position. Working as part of the team at Browns we find ourselves surrounded by both a wealth of experience & knowledge ensuring that this family business delivers the best it can."

Class 1 Professional Driver

"I have worked for Browns Distribution since early 2017 after a decade with a large high-profile PLC and I have noticed a stark difference! I find myself being asked not ‘told’ to do things. It was a pleasant surprise to often hear, “please” and, more importantly, THANK YOU. No two days are the same, with realistic work plans that can be challenging of course, but achievable. It’s a good team at Browns and everyone is approachable, from the Managing Director to the Cleaner everyone is important.

The fleet is modern and follows a replacement plan which means regular new trucks and trailers and we have clean canteen facilities and a new truck wash! All these things make a difference, including the annual Christmas party, which so far, has been expenses paid!

In short, Browns Distribution is a company that expects high performance and tries hard to give back to its employees in return."
