We're Motor Transport Awards finalists!

Revolution on the Road for Browns: Introducing our brand new livery!

We were delighted to yesterday take delivery of the first design prototype of our bold new livery, showcased on a brand new MAN curtainsided rigid! Displaying a flawless blend of professionalism and bold modernity, the design is set to turn heads and reinforce the commitment to our growth plan for the future, marking the latest step in the development of a contemporary brand identity. The beginning of a full rollout among the entire Browns fleet, the new livery features striking colour contrasts and dynamic patterns; testament to Browns' forward-thinking approach and our team’s ability to adapt to the ever-changing demands of the logistics landscape. Managing Director, David Brown Jnr said: “It was an immense moment to see the first of our new look vehicles making the trip to Distribution House. Our goal was to create a strong, vibrant design that reflects our future-embracing culture, and progressive way of working, leading the way in a hugely competitive industry.” Months in the making, it was a proud moment for all the team involved in the design stage, and project lead Hayley Parry had this to say: “In recent months, Browns has gone through an incredible transformation. In February, we waved goodbye to our old site and said hello to Distribution House, which has been a huge step up for the business; we thought it was only right that we had a livery to match. I couldn't be more pleased with the finished product - it's an enormous leap forward for the brand, and it's certainly going to turn some heads when it hits the road!” The unveiling of the new livery comes as our team embarks on a new era, as we continue to expand our service scope and reach new heights of success in the logistics industry. With an ever-diversifying client base and an unwavering focus on providing exceptional service, we’re poised to continue our momentum into the next half of 2023 and beyond. We're UKWA Awards finalists!

We are thrilled to have been shortlisted for the Logistics Service Provider of the Year Award, at the 2023 UK Warehousing Association Awards for Excellence. First held in 1999, and organised by the UKWA - Britain’s leading trade organisation for the logistics sector - the awards celebrate excellence in the warehousing sector and highlight the achievements of the top performing individuals and organisations across our industry. We’ve enjoyed an outstanding period of growth and success recently, forged by our team of forward-thinkers, and rounded off by our historic move to Distribution House. The Logistics Service Provider award specifically recognises professionalism, great leadership and a demonstration of continual best practice, alongside a full commitment to meet and exceed the UKWA’s key principles of working safely, ethically, and profitably. Managing Director, David Brown Jnr commented: "It’s been a whirlwind beginning of the year for Browns, and it’s brilliant to have the tireless efforts of our team recognised by a leading voice of the industry. Welcoming Palletline to Distribution House

We were thrilled to recently welcome the Palletline leadership team to Distribution House for the very first time, as our teams came together to mark Browns’ historic new site development, and celebrate our long-standing partnership. Palletline , the UK's first premium palletised freight distribution company, revolutionised the way pallets are transported, with a forward-thinking approach and development of the ‘hub-and-spoke’ distribution method. Proud shareholding members of the Network since 1995, Browns £9 million investment marks the latest step in our ground-breaking growth plan, and will enable us to continue to increase service scope, freight volume, efficiency, and move forward with key sustainability plans. Managing Director, David Brown Jnr commented: “It was thoroughly rewarding to welcome the Palletline team to Distribution House, and provide some insight into how the development strengthens Browns’ position as innovators and industry leaders; unlocking potential and the capacity to evolve service scope and efficiency.” Impressed by the site’s carefully executed design, the Palletline team, including Group Managing Director Graham Leitch, were given a full tour of our new facilities and met with members of the team to learn their thoughts on the move. Upgrade Inbound: New Trucks Loading...

After a few rather challenging months for the haulage industry, we have something exciting to share with you - the time is finally here to lift your spirits with some good news! Let us start by saying that we truly value all of our drivers, and we cannot thank them enough for all their hard work during one of the most gruelling periods many hauliers have ever faced. And what better way to share our great appreciation than to kit out our fleet with only the best and most reliable trucks? Browns Distribution are excited to announce that we have concluded our plans for the next three years' vehicle replacement programme, which equates to a £2.2m investment into our vehicle fleet. As it stands, SCANIA and MAN are the two most popular and sought-after HGV brands in the market, but then again, we firmly believe that our drivers deserve no less than the very best. Furthermore, it's no secret that SCANIA and MAN are equally renowned for reliability, lower fuel consumption levels and, more importantly, driver cabin comfort! That being said, we will be kitting out the new vehicles with the manufacturers' enhanced driver comfort packages. We are thrilled to announce the upcoming arrival of our latest fleet additions and can confirm - as you will agree - that it is money well-spent. In conclusion, we would also like to extend a thank you to all of our drivers for their continued hard work and dedication - and let's not forget their positive attitudes and friendly faces, too!

Leading Sports Brand chooses Browns

Browns has recently completed a warehousing project with one of the world's leading sports brand companies. The team was approached by the household name, with an immediate requirement to store over 2,000 pallets at short notice. With just a 12-hour turnaround from receiving the initial phone call to the containers arriving, the experts here at Browns quickly turned a potentially complicated job into a smooth process. The first unpalletised container arrived the following morning and the Browns staff quickly adapted to ensure there were no teething problems. Each container carried around 750 to 1,000 cartons and four members of staff were tasked with unloading each one. The goods were then uploaded onto the advanced WMS, giving the brand full visibility over the goods. When the products need to be called off, clients are also able to do this via the WMS. When this happens, the Browns team can then pick out the stock and deliver the goods to the desired location. David Brown Jr, Managing Director of Browns Distribution, said: 'We were delighted to be approached by such a popular brand, and our team relished the challenge of providing a professional and efficient service for them'. 'With our advanced WMS service and state of the art facility, we can cater for larger demands and our warehouse staff were able to transform a difficult task into a simple one at very short notice'. 'It is fantastic that more and more companies are seeing the Browns name out there, which is testament to the fantastic work our staff are carrying out on a daily basis.' Browns will be holding onto the freight for approximately three months. The goods will then be shipped out to the relevant distribution centre. Alf Booth Retirement - Thank You

Browns Distribution would like to thank Alf Booth for his years of hard work and dedication, following his recent retirement.  Alf joined the business in April 1990 and successfully fulfilled a number of roles including a long stint as one of our drivers.  As a thank you for 30 years of loyalty to the business, we recently visited Alf and Margaret to present him with a watch.  Alf has played a huge role in the success of the company over a long period of time, and has worked for three generations of the Brown family.  Upon receiving his retirement gift, Alf was also kind enough to share his thoughts from the last 30 years in the role.    “I put a lot of hours in at Browns and I was always there at 5am when I needed to be.  “When I started as a driver, I was working for old Mr Brown ‘Snr Snr’. He was very good and very straight talking, he called a spade a spade!  “Obviously then I was working for Mr Brown Snr and I also got on very well with him. I eventually took over as the yard foreman, and then had the chance to work with David Jnr.  “Again, I can’t fault David and he’s been great. I really can’t knock them; they are very good people to work for and I would never say a bad thing about them.”  David Brown Jnr, Managing Director of Browns Distribution, delivered the watch to Alf and would like to place his gratitude on record.  “Alf has served the business extremely well for many years. We are grateful to Alf for all of his hard work and he will be sorely missed.  “I would also like to thank his wife Margaret, Alf was always up first thing in the morning or on call, and Margaret never complained about the early starts!”  When we spoke to Alf recently, we also asked him about his favourite memory from his time at Browns.  Through all his kind words, Alf was still as blunt as ever… ‘Well, my money was in there every week!’  Everyone at Browns would like to wish Alf all the best for the future, and a very happy retirement.
